Welcome the Year of the Monkey!

Posted by Customer Service in Chinese New Year, tbar

February 8, 2016 is the first day of the Chinese New Year 4713.  It also marks the beginning of the Year of the Monkey, a clever, intelligent, and playful creature.  We'll have three different opportunities for you to view and participate in our annual Lion Dances.  Chinese Lions are benevolent, powerful creatures that can chase away the bad fortunes of the prior year and help usher in good luck for the coming year.  Click here for the 2016 schedule.

You can also decorate your very own monkey mask.  These masks are modeled after the Chinese Monkey King, Sun Wukong.

We have great decorations, red envelopes, New Year candies, and of course, lots of Chinese food items for you to plan and host your own Chinese New Year celebrations.  Don't feel like cooking?  Pick up some hand-made dumplings from our Pop-Up Dumpling House instead!  Fridays & Saturdays in Albuquerque, and Mondays in Santa Fe.
